Identifying key tasks and activities

- After creating a flow map or a larger view of the experience, we can use that to help us narrow down tasks and more granular flows. Using the example of a student applying for university, let's take a look at the enrollment process. When we break this area out, we can define the personas involved and what they need from the experience. During enrollment, we captured some key activities that the student has to complete. First, they have to complete the application and wait for an admissions email. Key personas will interact with the system in different ways. In our scenario, we have admissions staff, who reviews the checklist to make sure all materials have been included as a first pass; a faculty department member, who represents the department the student is applying to and needs to assess the student for the major; and a student reviewer, who represents the student body and the campus culture.
