- [Instructor] Data-intensive views require some careful thought to make sure we've designed the information in a meaningful way for our users. When approaching data design, we'll need to understand what insights are meaningful to them and surface the information efficiently, so they can take action on that data. Understanding the type of data we're dealing with helps us decide on the appropriate type of graph or representation. For example, data that uses time as a variable is a good candidate for time-based comparisons. Data represented year over year comparing data over time could be represented as a line or bar graph. We see this frequently for stocks. Correlational data, trends, and patterns can be represented using a scatterplot.
