- Pop quiz, what's the one thing your youth customers have with them 24/7? You guessed it, their phones. For Gen Z and millennial audiences, taking and sharing videos is second nature. So what could be easier and more natural than getting research insights using videos from their own phones, on their own schedule, from wherever they are? There are two kinds of video research that will give you insights that are pure researcher gold. The first is simply a selfie video. Ask your participants to record themselves talking about a product, a brand, a competitor, whatever it is you're studying. Tell them how long you want the video to be and send a list of questions. For example, let's say you're designing an app to help college students study more effectively. You'll need to know what their process is now, maybe how they take notes, where they store their notes, if they use e-books versus paper. You can ask them to…
