The role of conditional logic
- Flows can represent both the idealized user experience and the current experience. Flows are a standard deliverable for UX designers. Engineers reference the flow to understand how to build the design, so we have to make sure the diagram is easy to understand and the design is accurately represented. In UX, when thinking about flow, we need to take into consideration decisions and conditions. Let's first delve into decisions. Decisions in flow refers to a condition that needs to be met from either the user or the system to determine the next step. Decisions in a diagram are usually represented as a diamond shape, with a question and options for yes and no. Depending on the answer, the user is moved to the next step. Conditions are statements that should be met in order to trigger a process or an action. These can be defined as an if statement.
