Assigning the layers to the geometry
- [Narrator] In chapter 04-04, we are going to be assigning the layers to the objects that we've created. The most important thing for you to appreciate at the moment is that in sketch-up, you can apply a material or a layer to the wrapper of the component let's say, and also you can apply a different material or layer to the geometry inside the component. Now this can be a blessing as well as a curse, and as far sketch-up into Revit goes, it is definitely something to be very, very aware of. And I'll be trying to fully explain that in the next exercise before we start applying materials, but my rule of thumb for layers is to make sure that the outer wrapper and the inner geometry is all on the correct layer so you can be absolutely sure that you're not going to have any problems when you come to rendering inside of Revit. Now the only way you can render an object from sketch-up into Revit is if you've exported it via AutoCAD. If you don't want to render an object inside of Revit…
