Build up the external levels

- [Instructor] Chapter 05-06, building up the external levels. That's something we need to do, I would imagine there'd be some sort of temporary steps put into place so we can get access to this building. In reality, this ground line is going to be brought up to about six inches below. Now, I know in the UK we have accessibility considerations so level access into buildings these days and that does cause problems with wind-driven rain at lower level. So what you would normally do, is have a drainage system and falls away from there, sort of like a domestic sort of type of road drain ACO type drain with the slots that allows the rainwater to sort of dissipate and then fall away wherever you can. In the States, it seems that every state seems to have a different sort of rule for this. Some states saying you have to have six inches clear around the entire building, so how you get around the accessibility issues there is for you to sort of research and find out which are the ones that are required by the local code. Okay, so that's the little bits to look into, but obviously, you have to consider these sorts of things. The two things were going to bring in, are the compacted gravel grate and then the concrete patio. So two simple things, under the Cs and we can just bring this in, drop that at that point, so as easy as it's going to get ever in this series, and then this one drops in, just slightly up, could've put the point in a bit easier, but there you go, those are the two things. Now we've got a distance of about six inches up to here and because this is still our membrane wrapped around, we need to now put some three-coat stucco or some other system against here, you could bring the timber down. But timber coming down to this might lead to sort of, water penetration into the timber and potential rot, so I've got a low level waterproof, external grade stucco going on at this point with a little bead, slightly above the level of the concrete, okay, we'll do that next.
