Completing the top arm

- [Instructor] Chapter 402 we're just going to finish off this thing. So let's zoom in on this area. And we've got to put a guide in from this edge. So that's 26 and then we'll put another one in, 13. We'll also put the central one in, so we'll just snap to that midpoint from an edge. What we also need is three mil from that side and three mil from this side. And I think that's probably enough for now. Oh one mil in from the end but we probably don't need those because we've got the three mil position here if we use the circles. If we use an arch we'd need to know where the start and end points were but because we'll use the circle tool we don't need to worry. So we just need to snap from that point to that point and that point to that point. Then we can use the pencil tool coming from that end point to that end point. That one to that one. Eraser to erase those two bits and we might as well scrub those out now we don't need them anymore. Offset 1.5 and push pull one. And then we can select this bit and delete it. So there you go. Very very simple. We've also got to put the little stubby bits of guideline in. So, before we put those in let's just flick back to the PDF to find out where they go. So here we are, if we look at this one, these little edge pieces are a millimeter wide so we're looking at the head of a pin being a millimeter as well. So that's two mil for these stubby bits and for this one we've got the same one mil for the pin but these are eight so it's nine for those ones further on. So back to SketchUp. And let's look at these bits. So come down to the center point and these are nine, enter. And this one, just zoom in a little bit, is going to be two. So two and nine from this side it's two, enter. And this one, it's nine, enter. Now there's one more that I think will be useful and we'll put that in down this end. But, it's interesting to know that we can't use the guide if there's nothing to guide from. So, for example, if I just hover down that and finger on the shift key to lock out onto this one. So I'm going to the center of that square might click and it looks like I'm going to be a create it, and I enter one mil and nothing happens. Okay, so, what I've got to do is put something in there. A line or whatever. So in this case I'll use a circle. Track down. Put the circle in, it doesn't matter how big the circle is. But now I've got something to fix my point to and I can type in one again. And hey presto, it appears. So delete the circle and now we're good. So all we've got to do now is select everything. G or right click, make components and we'll call this top arm. Then create. And do not forget to save as. Somewhere safe. Okay, so that's that bit done. We've got the shade, the lamp, and the holder to go and then we are ready to put the whole thing together and start pinning it up.
