Create layers and assign them to groups

- [Instructor] In this video we will create a number of layers and then assign the various groups in the model to the layers. In this way we will be able to control the visibility of various systems by toggling the layers on and off. To begin this process open up the Layers window and also open up the Entity Info window. On the Mac these are implemented as floating palettes that can be docked together. I like to put them up in the upper right hand corner of the screen, like this. In Windows you simply need to expand these two palettes in the default tray. By default all models begin with Layer0. This layer cannot be deleted, nor can it be renamed. So everything that we've done up to this point is on Layer0. Let's create additional layers that make sense for this particular model. I'll have a layer called Existing Fireplace. And another layer called Demolition. My plan is to demolish the wooden portions of the fireplace. So what I'll do is select that group and you can see that it's a…
