Creating a translucency effect
- [Instructor] Now, although both the generic and subsurface scattering materials can be used to create thin object translucency in V-Ray Next for SketchUp, getting those options to work well in a quick and easy manner can, in my experience, be a bit of a tricky affair. And so, in this video, we're going to walk through creating a fake translucency effect using nothing more than a couple of generic materials and a V-Ray two-sided material. To get started, let's jump into the curtains camera so that we can create the two materials that we will be applying to the front and back faces of the curtain objects. Inside the materials tab of the asset editor then, let's expand the UI so that we can see the installed materials library. And from inside the fabric section, left-click and drag so as to drop the fabric_h01_8cm entry into the materials list. Over in the materials dropdown, in the default tray, let's make sure that…
