Door and window openings

- [Instructor] Once all the walls and the structure is in place, we can start to work with door and window openings. Now one of the things I find is that doors and windows tend to move around a lot, so you want to make sure you stay pretty modular with this. So, there are two basic ways to do this in SketchUp. One is to just draw the door and window, and kind of move the details around. So we can take a rectangle tool for example, snap that to the bottom edge, draw something that resembles a door, and then just push that out to create that door. Now if you want to move this around, you have to take this detail, and select it, and move it around however you want. Now sometimes that can be problematic because you may move it off center or off axis. Now, if we want to do something a little bit more clever, we can use components to create door and window openings that we can move around at will. Let me show you how this works.
