Extrude walls

- [Narrator] We're going to to extrude these walls from our 2D floor plan, but first, if you have any guidelines leftover, let's go ahead and get rid of those by going to edit, delete guides. So, before we extrude this we are going to have to orbit a bit, so that we see it at more of an isometric view. So go ahead and get your orbit tool, O for orbit, or you can use the middle button of your scroll wheel mouse. Alright, now that we're at this view, we need to go ahead and turn off that x-ray mode. So I'm going to go to view, face style, x-ray. Now, everything should be at full contrast. One last step before we extrude this, I'd like to go ahead and turn around all of these faces. In SketchUp there is a front face and there is a back face. And sometimes when we are creating floor plans, the face comes up blue, which is actually the back face. It should come up a little more like this. Where everything comes up white. I know it looks a little bit gray, but it's actually white. And this is the correct orientation. But for whatever reason, sometimes floor plans don't always turn out that way. So I'd like to go ahead and flip around the faces to begin with. So I'm going to go ahead and hit command or control A and that selects everything and then I'm going to go ahead and right click and choose reverse faces. And that will turn all of the faces white. And the blue face will now be on the bottom. So now when I extrude this, it will come up correctly oriented. Alright, so again, that was command or control A, right click, reverse faces until all of the faces are white. Alright, so now I am going to get the push/pull tool P for push/pull, and click and release on one of the wall faces. I'm going to to start to bring my cursor upward, and now I'll type the dimension, eight feet, enter. Now the the next one, I don't need to type eight feet enter again or eyeball it, I can just hover over the wall next to it, and that's called inferencing. I'm lust letting it, now I want this face to be at the same height as the face next to it. Or, we can also double click. Double click, if you accidentally double click on the floor face it will bring the entire floor to eight feet, so if that happens just hit undo, which is command Z or control Z on a PC. And we're skipping over the windows and doors. Now we have extruded walls. Next up, we'll do the windows and doors.
