Face orientation tips
- [Instructor] SketchUp faces have a front side and a backside. The backside is blue by default, and the front side is white. When a shape is pulled up, like this, the face orientation should result in outwards-facing white faces, and inside of the shape, we can see that it's blue. That's the correct face orientation. But every once in a while, an extruded shape does not result in outward-facing white faces and inward-facing blue faces, like this one. It's reversed. As we model, it's important to keep an eye on these and fix them as the need arises. This becomes especially important when you start using photo-realistic rendering plugins, as they won't render properly if the texture is applied to a backward face that is improperly oriented.
