- [Instructor] A component is a lot like a group in that it provides a protective wrapper around the geometry so that no other geometry will stick to it. But, it also has other qualities. It acts as a bit of a supergroup, so that when we make copies of it all of the copies including the original will have changes reflected in all of them. I'm going to demonstrate this by making a staircase. Here we have a four foot by one foot rectangle to represent a stair tread. And we're going to use this to make an array. So, if you haven't already watched the make an array video, you may want to review that first. Let's go ahead and grab our push pull tool, letter P. Click and release on the face. Start to bring it upwards and type eight Enter to create our stair. Now, I'm going to hit my space bar, draw a selection box by clicking and dragging around that to select all of the geometry.
