Model a new fireplace surround
- [Instructor] In this video I would like to redesign the fireplace so that we can replace this wooden element that goes around the outside. Currently this is on layer demolition. I'd like to leave that on for the time being. Let's create a new layer called New Fireplace. But let's not set that current. Let's leave Layer0 current because I'm anticipating creating new geometry that should always go on Layer0 at first. And then after we group it we can move that to the new fireplace layer. So let's orbit around so that we can get a better view of this element right here. Let's also toggle off the wall and use the rectangle tool and draw in a rectangle that's on this surface and snap it up here in the upper right corner. Then use the push-pull tool and pull that out a distance of one and a half inches. So type 1.5 enter. Then press the space bar to go to the selection tool.
