- [Instructor] When we start a new design, we need to explore a lot of different ideas in order to come up with the best one. Now one of the best ways to do that is to use sketching and drawing to refine our thinking. Now sketching and drawing is probably the fastest way to generate ideas and brainstorm. It's interactive, it's fast, and it's intuitive, your brain is very tightly connected to your pencil and all of the ideas that come up in your brain can easily be drawn out or sketched out on a piece of paper. Now, we can sketch in digital or analog. We can certainly use paper, we can use the back of a napkin, we can use a tablet or a workstation, but the idea here is to simply have quick generation of ideas. Now we can also do quick changes to our drawings and that's another way to refine our ideas and brainstorm. Now it's best to think of sketching and drawing as a series of explorations or play.
