Understanding faces and edges

- [Instructor] If you've used the rectangle or line tool in SketchUp, you may have noticed that SketchUp draws edges or lines as well as faces which are created when three or more coplanar edges connect. If one of those edges are removed, the face will be removed with it. A SketchUp model is always made solely out of edges and faces. Faces and edges do not have a thickness. The style of edges can be changed to appear thicker, thinner, smoother, or hidden. However, they always have zero thickness. When extruded, a shape is created. It may appear that a face has a thickness, but again, this face has zero depth. The shape is actually hollow. And when the face is removed, you'll be able to see the interior of the hollow shape. To create a 3D model, we must draw the faces and edges to represent what we would like to convey. In SketchUp there really is no such thing as a wall or a door. It's just simply measured edges and faces to create what we are trying to represent. The good news is…
