- [Instructor] Welcome to SketchUp for architecture, revised. In this series, we have a brand new building. And the focus is on speed. How can we get quickly from this fairly uninspiring CAD drawing to something that's going to impress the client? Okay, and we'll be so confident with our outcome that we'll be happy to show the client that it looks just as good in the rain. So what's going to be different in this series? Well, we're going to take our plans, and we are going to rearrange the elevations, so they line up with the plan views, and then we're going to use mostly your rectangle tool, push-pull, and imprints all the way through it. There's about two or three dimensions that we need for this entire series. So once you've created the elevations and the plan, then this process is really very quick indeed. We'll also be looking at components, and how we can use those effectively in our modeling. We'll be looking at styles. We'll learn how to control fast styles and nice graphic styles. We'll be dealing with our layers. We'll be looking at shadows, shadow studies, scenes, and the outliner. So we're covering a huge amount of ground in this, but we're covering it very fast, indeed. The total modeling time for this house is around about four hours. That's with explanation. So after a bit of practice, I'm confident that you'll be able to get something like this done in two to three hours. You might not need all the interior objects, but we've got an awful lot of those to play with as well. And the other thing that's different about this is that I'll be setting up a group so we can share and discuss the outcomes of this series. So the pace is going to be more of a fast walk than a slow amble through this software. We certainly won't be looking at every tool and what it does, and I'll be leaving certain aspects of the modeling down to you to do. I'll be showing you how to create part of it, and then I'm going to leave the rest up to you. So hopefully that's going to reinforce that learning process as well.
