From the course: SketchUp & Revit Workflow

What you need to know

- [Instructor] So, what do you need to know? Not very much, to be honest. If you are a SketchUp user, and have never used Revit, or a Revit user, and have never used SketchUp, then you can still follow along with this course. You don't have to be an expert in either. Everything will be prepared for you. If you're interested to find out what one can do to the other, then all you need to do is follow along with the chapters. Now, if you don't have access to either Revit or SketchUp, you can download a trial version from autodesk.com of Revit, and that's valid for 30 days, or register as a student, and you can get access to a student license for up to three years. SketchUp, you've got the Make version, which is free, and the SketchUp Pro version, which is a 30 day trial. Now, one thing you do need to be aware of, is that after May the 22nd, 2017, the geo data feature within SketchUp, now that'll be for SketchUp 2016 and earlier versions, and also the Make version of whatever version you've got, you will not be able to use the terrain mapping feature. That is going to be the prime resource of the SketchUp Pro 2017 version and on. Feel free to check out more information on the help files at sketchup.com, as the URL listed above. But, that's one of the main things that we need to be aware of. There was a grace period of 5 years after Trimble took over, and that grace period ends on the 22nd of May, and from then on in, some of the features that were available to all versions of SketchUp will only be available to the Pro version from 2017 going forward. Okay, so, apart from that, there's very little else you need to be aware of. You just need to be curious and up for a challenge, and we'll have some fun with this course.
