- [Instructor] So what should you know before tackling this course? There's not a huge amount that you need to be aware of. I'll be using the Window version, and I'll also be drawing in metric. And there are certain aspects when you use a Mac, such as the way the toolbars are set up and particularly the materials, which are slightly different, so I've got separate videos for that. Anytime there's anything that's a little bit different, then I will explain that to you. So even though the interface that I'm using is a Windows one, then Mac users are happy to follow along with this. And also, because we are influencing nearly everything from the CAD plans, providing you've got the CAD plans in at the right scale, I'll explain how to do that. Then whatever units you decide to use, whether it's metric or imperial or, if it's metric, whether it's meters or centimeters, then we can bring them in. Providing we set it up correctly, then there should be absolutely no problem with anything. Apart from that, every step is explained. The only thing that is slightly different is that I'll be demonstrating how to do something on one side of this building, and I'll be leaving the other side for you to work out. And I think that'll be a valuable lesson for you to reinforce that process, thinking it through yourself. As far as everything else goes, all the materials are provided, all the components are provided, but you can also use your own. You can raid the 3D Warehouse, and you can attack it any way you want. This is as much your design as it is ours. The main message that I'm trying to get across here is that this process is really quite simple. This part of it isn't designed to be a substitute for a full set of working drawings or construction details. What this is about is hooking the client with some compelling ideas and some nice visuals, all within the comfort of SketchUp. So you can take this as far as you want to go. Okay, so before we start, we'll use the next video as a reminder of how to use the exercise files, and then we'll be on our way.
