- [Instructor] We need edges to draw, but sometimes they make objects look a little cartoony. Let's learn three easy ways to hide edges so objects appear more true to life. Instead of maxing out your time by photorealistic rendering, click on the first hexagon. Right click on it and find Soften Smooth Edges. If you're on a Windows computer, the Soften Edges toolbar will show up in the default tree. On a Mac, you can find the Soften Edges toolbar under Window, Soften Edges. The first thing we'll see is angle between normals. This sets the maximum size of all angles to be smoothed or softened. The higher the setting, the more angles that are affected. Smoothing in edge adds shading or shadows that make the faces look smooth. However, when you apply the smooth property alone, the edges still remain visible.
