- [Instructor] Sometimes we have a set of plans to work from and we need to transcribe those into SketchUp so that we can build a 3D model from those plans. A handy way to do this is to import those plans and trace over them to scale. To do this, I'd like to use a template with plan view, because it starts from the top view, which is helpful for starting out in 2D, which is what we're doing. So first, let's import the file. I'm going to go to File, Import. And we'll be using a practice file called FloorPlanImage. If the file is grayed out, you can change the format under Options, Format, and then change it from SketchUp Files to All Supported Image Types. And that should make this image available for you to click on. So I'm going to select the FloorPlanImage and I need to make sure that I'm not using it as a texture but that I'm using it as an image. So under Format, it's helpful to have All Supported Image Types.…
