- [Instructor] Sometimes we need to edit objects in our model but too many things are in our way. There is a quick way to hide things you are not editing found in model info. In this exercise file, we need to access the other side of the Island to add cabinets and a dishwasher on that side for an elevation view. It can be tough to edit that area with all of the other objects on the wall in the way. Everything in the kitchen is on the kitchen tag. So we can not turn off the visibility to that tag. We could hide all of the objects and bring them back later but there is something even easier. On both the Mac and Windows computer, go to the Window menu and find model info. Click components, an arrow down to fade rest of model. Here, we can fade objects out of edit even more by moving the slider or just check the box next to hide. Look at that the walls and rest of the kitchen area went away. Let's close model info and get to work. Turn on the visibility to the additions tag. Here we have our cabinetry and our dishwasher. The first thing we should do is cut out a hole for the dishwasher in our Island cabinet. We'll get into edit mode, but wait, the dishwasher went away. Remember, when we are in edit mode, we have chosen to fade the rest of the model. Hit escape one time and get into edit mode of the dishwasher We will copy this back shape and paste it into our Island. Control C on Windows or command C on Mac and hit escape one time. Now get into edit mode of the Island cabinet, go to the edit menu and choose paste in place. Activate the move tool and move the shape back along the green access until it snaps to the face. Now, all we need to do is delete the face. Select it and hit delete on your keyboard. It looks like we picked up some extra edges that we will not want there, but we can easily delete them by clicking on them and hitting delete on our keyboard. And hit escape one time. Now, all we need to do is move these items back. You can use a bounding box to select all of them at once and zoom in to the back of a drawer or door front, activate your move tool, click it back end point, lock in your green access with the left arrow key and snap to the front of the cabinetry. Can you believe how easy that was with fade rest of model. Now, if you no longer want to hide everything while in edit mode, you can go back to window, model info and uncheck hide. You can even create a shortcut to toggle this feature on and off. While you're here, take some time to check out what else is hidden in model info.
