- [Narrator] Sometimes people are so excited about making sure their skills fit the needs of a potential employer, that they forget to think about how the company fits them personally. I'm here to tell you that discovering too late that the company's culture doesn't align with your values and goals is a painful experience. It's so worth your time to learn what you can before you accept a position. Digging for clues about the company's culture is a lot like hunting for the implied, required soft skills. You'll need to read between the lines in the job description and think hard about the unspoken expectation in the list of requirements. What are the company's beliefs about its place in the industry? What are its priorities? What does it value in its employees? How does it show it? How does it fit into the larger community?
