- [Instructor] From NASA to the US military, there are many different types of simulations that are being used everyday, from flight simulators for pilots to combat simulators for ground troops and even underwater simulators for dive specialists. They all use fuzzy logic. Depending on a scenario, the same scene may be played over and over again with a change in weather, players or even weapon and all the different results are based on the inputs and the algorithms used. This creation of rules with a system that can learn is what's called an expert system. Watson, for example, is one of the most commonly known examples of an expert system. Although Watson by IBM is an expert in many areas and normally experts are specialized in one field. Expert systems are being created in medicine, technology, space and beyond to help scientists do more calculations than ever before and answer questions that have been on their minds for years.
