Locating job opportunities
- [Instructor] Now that you have a plan for getting a job, it's time to start looking for opportunities. In today's IT job market, you'll have few problems locating job listings. The challenge becomes finding the ones that fit your values and support your career goals. As you think about the task of locating job opportunities, just for fun, imagine it as a bus route. There will be some stops where you'll want to jump off and take a look around. Others, you might pass on. All aboard, here we go. Stop number one, everybody knows somebody, so don't overlook your network of colleagues, friends, and family. A personal connection and introduction can be very powerful. Make a list of 25 influential people you know. Plan to reach out to at least three people a week. Job fairs sponsored by communities, schools, and other organizations are also ideal for building your network.
