Setting smart goals
- [Announcer] It can be hard to think long-term when you're in the midst of searching and and applying for a job, especially your first job. You may discover that time spent setting your career goals changes how you spend your job search time and efforts in ways that will be more beneficial in the long-term. So where do you see yourself in five years? Have you figured out how you're going to get there? Do you recall the story of Alice in Wonderland? She gets lost in a forest and asks the Cheshire Cat for directions. "Tell me please," says Alice. "Which way I ought to go from here?" To which the cat justifiably answers, "That depends a good deal on where you want to get to." A befuddled Alice counters, "I don't much care where." The cat's retort? "Then it doesn't matter which way you go." There's little chance of getting where you'd like to be if you don't know where that is. That's the point of making goals.
