What is ambiguity?

- [Instructor] What is ambiguity? Ambiguity is the possibility of having more than one answer. If something is ambiguous, it means it might have more than one answer or more than one solution to the problem. So why am I talking about ambiguity in a fuzzy logic video? In terms of computer logic, computers can only see things in black and white. The idea of fuzzy logic was born from the idea that the human brain does not think like that. In our human world, there are ambiguous terms, and therefore it is the existence of ambiguity and ambiguous terms that led to the creation of fuzzy logic. If someone says, "Oh, shoot, I've lost my contacts," would your immediate response be to hand them a phone book or your glasses? If you looked over and noticed they were squinting at their phone, would that help narrow down your decision? How is a stranger to know which contacts you mean? Losing contacts in one's phone might be more devastating these days than eye contacts, as it seems we don't even…
