Preset notes and arrows layers

- [Instructor] Not every panel will need notes or arrows but I like to be prepared and I like to save time. So the first thing I do is I set up all my layers the way I like to draw with my roughs and my thumbnail layers, background, mid ground and foreground layers, all grouped together the way I want and then on the very top, I have notes in arrows. Let me expand that so you could read a little easier. I have notes and arrows on top. So once I have them set, I'm always going to draw my rough layer. First, I have that selected. I'm going to go to layer and then the very bottom, if you have a bigger resolution than I have right now the very bottom one is going to be set layer layout as default, select that. Now every time I make a new panel or a new shot like this, boom, all my layers are named properly organized and they're set up the way I want but when I set them up, I do one other thing as well. So for me, arrows are great to help show motion. So for instance, I want to show that this guy is going to be leaning forward into the shot. So I'll put an arrow here but I don't want that arrow to show up on an animatic cause in the animatic I'm actually going to show the motion. I don't need an arrow, arrow becomes distracting. on my layers tab not the drawing layers but layers with other information and if you don't see it, just click on this little plus over here and come down to layers and this will pop up for you. I have an option for every layer in any layer on where I want to export. So I turned off the check mark for movie. I do not want my arrow layer to export to my movies but I do want to export to PDF or to any harmony animation file. I do the same thing with notes. I want notes to show up in print but I don't want any notes to show up in a movie. So I turn off the export option to movie for both of those layers. Once that set up I set layer layout to default again, here it is and I never have to worry about it by setting up all the layers and layer options just once in saving the layout, my workflow is faster and I'll always be consistent in my exports.
