- [Instructor] With the FX_Map_Start.sbs file open, and with our graph focused on the Grass_Randomize frame, with nothing selected, let's start using functions by first of all setting up the effects map that we are going to be driving by means of functions. With our cursor over the graph view then, let's press the spacebar key, type FX into the search field, and then click to add the effects map node, making sure that it is positioned inside the frame, and set to use a grayscale output. By design, the effects node will take an input and then adjust it in some way, but we can also use the effects node to replicate a function over and over again. What we are going to do is pipe a single blade of grass from the graph view, into the effects nodes parameters and then set up functions that will execute multiple times. This will then allow us to create multiple blades of grass with variation without having to do all of the adjustments manually. To do this, we will click and drag from the…
