Base material

- [Instructor] When it comes to creating materials for objects, we will oftentimes want to blend various base colors, roughness channels and normal or height maps together in order to create the look of a multi-material object. Now to this end knowing what the base material note is, and how we can use it will be really helpful. Coming to our navigation 07 pin, we see that our scene already has a base material set up and is being used to tie all of our material flows together, making it easier to create additions like this dirt pass, which we see here. Now this passes something that affects all of the material types. And so applying it to a single output, well, it just makes things easier for us. Now this is just one way in which the base material node can be used. But there are of course, other ways in which we can utilize this powerful tool. Let's come to the library section of our UI and do a search for the word base…
