- [Educator] In this video, we will take a look at how we can add a little weathering or aging to our materials and hopefully, no matter how subtle we want the effect to be help our assets feel a little more grounded in reality. Now we will do this by adding some dirt to the creases and cracks of our objects by utilizing one of the data maps that we created earlier. Coming to the 08 Nav pin that we see here, we have our dirt node, which we can double click on to see its output inside the 2D view. Now this particular node gives us a procedural way of creating a dirt pass for our object but there can also be a good masking tool for other aspects of a material. For instance, we can think of moss on a forest floor or other material effects where a material or a collection of small objects actually gather in the cracks and crevices, like let's say wood chippings on a workshop floor and so on.
