- One aspect of a material that can be a pain to create manually is that of water sitting on or in a surface. Now, although we are using the obvious example of puddles, there are of course, lots of other materials that may require water to collect and pool inside the recesses of that particular texture. So, how might we go about creating these effects with ease? Well, one way would be by learning how to use the water node. Coming to our Nav 09 pin, we see that we have our water node already set up and ready to go. If we double click on the node, we see that we do have quite a few options as we scroll down. So, what do these do? Well, the first and probably the most important option is the water level slider. Now, as we increase its value, the node will look at the height information of our substance, be that normal or displacement, and then start to fill up the lowest areas with the water effect.
