What you should know

- [Joel] As we work through our course, I will do my best to call out to a placement in the UI, as well as keyboard shortcuts that are used. As this course takes you from start to finish in setting up a product shot, no advanced knowledge of the Substance Designer application is really needed. However, I will be assuming that you at least have a basic knowledge of how the application works. If you are completely new to Designer, I would recommend checking out my Substance Designer Essential Training title that can already be found on LinkedIn Learning and lynda.com. Although, this of course is not a necessary step. The UI from my version of Substance Designer, as seen in the videos, will be set up slightly different than its defaults. So again, if you are not sure how to customize the UI, then check out chapter three of the aforementioned Essential Training title. What I have done here is docked my explorer panel to the right hand side of the UI with my library and parameter sections sitting next to it. This just gives us space for the view port and graph views without slowing down the workflow.
