Blending multiple materials together

- When it comes to trying to create realistic looking materials inside Substance Painter a skill that we will most likely need to learn and make good use of is that of blending multiple materials in order to create the final look that we want or need. For example, dirt and grass, painting metal, and while the list could go on and on. In this video then we will take a look at just how we can do that by using masks, layer blending modes and stencils. To begin with we have a number of materials lined up in our project layers tab that I have taken the time to place in some appropriate folders. So as to make things a little easier for all of us. A first option open to us when wanting to blend materials together then is that of hand painting the masks that will then reveal any textures setting below one another in the layer stack.
