From the course: Substance Painter: Petrol Pump Game Asset

Using the exercise files

- [Voiceover] If you are a premium member of the lynda.com online training library, you have the ability to download both the exercise files and assets used in the lessons for this course. These are located in the Exercise Files folder which, as you can see, I have placed on my desktop. Although you can of course feel free to place this folder and its accompanying files anywhere that you like. There are a number of file types in here, such as substance package files, image maps, FBX meshes, and of course, our Substance Painter project. With all these residing in subfolders that have been named according to their corresponding assets. It is important to note here that Substance Painter uses a non-destructive, project-based approach to material creation, meaning we can always go back and make changes and edits to our finished materials any time that we want to. Because of this, and in my opinion, something that is one of Substance Painter's real strengths, we don't really need to have multiple versions of files taking up space on our hard drive. And so what I have elected to do here, for those who would prefer to simply watch through the course and then pick apart the finished project file, is provide just a single, final version of the Substance Painter project in the Exercise Files folder. For those who prefer to actually work along with the lessons in the course however, and seeing as we're going to be starting the project from the very beginning, my recommendation would be to make certain that you, at the very least, save the project file that you were working on at the conclusion of each video lesson. Now of course we also need to note here that it isn't in any way essential for you to have access to, or even make use of the exercise files in order to follow along with and benefit from this course. You can, quite happily, make use of assets of your own, should you want or need to. And if you are a monthly or annual subscriber to lynda.com, you won't have access to the exercise files themselves. But again, you will be able to work through this course using either models of your own, or ones that may be available on internet sites, such as Autodesk's creativemarket.com
