- There are many preferences in SynthEyes. A lot of them are not necessary for the basic operation of match moving. But as you get more comfortable, the options can greatly increase your speed. So lets take a look at the preferences in SynthEyes. There's two places to get to the preferences. One under the Edit menu, and if we go down to the bottom we have Edit Preferences. And another spot is under SynthEyes, go down to Preferences and click on Preferences. Now there are a lot of options in SynthEyes. But I'm just going to show you the ones that I think will be most helpful for you in match moving. Lets go over to this tab here, and go down to User Interface. This is a big one, the Axis Setting. Depending on how you like to work, in what software you are going to be working after SynthEyes is done. I usually use Maya. So I'm going to put it on to Maya, but if you use MAX or LightWave you can click on those. Mouse/Tablet, this is a big one here. If you're using a tablet, turn this off and turn this on to make your life easier. I'm going to leave them at the defaults though. Under Image Input, this has some options for you depending again on what software you're going to go into. If your software always starts at frame one, which I know some software does, you may want to click on this. The default for SynthEyes is zero. So that's an option. Under their Tracking menu, Find corners in autotracks. I usually click this on. I think that helps with the autotracking. Under the Solver, Autoplace after solving. I usually turn this off, but if you're just doing autotracks you can leave that on. Let go to one more. Under the Save and Export. If we want to use the autosave option. I don't like using the autosave, but you can if you'd like. I don't get too many crashes from SynthEyes, so I take my chances. And I'm pretty good about saving every now and then anyway. So you can turn that off and turn up to no. And these are all your different options if you do like having the autosave. Then we have Multi-processing. I usually keep this at the default, which will use all of your processors. If you don't want SynthEyes to use all your processors, because it can really make your machine slow down if you want to do any other tasks while you're 3D tracking, then you can change it to maybe Half. Here are some options on the UI colors. I do change one, I'll leave it at defaults for this class, but something I found to be, and this is just the way I like to work, is this blue screen here just feels annoying after doing a lot of tracking. And you can go in here and you have a lot of options for all the different things in here. You can change the color. So now we have a basic understanding of the preferences inside SynthEyes.
