Add an R regression model to a Tableau viz
- [Instructor] Once you have your data ready to go, you can visualize it in Tableau and then add a calculated field that uses an R command to find the regression line that best fits it. In this movie, I'll show you how to create such a calculated field and add it to your viz. My sample file is 03_05_Regression and you can find it in the Chapter03 folder of your exercise files collection. Before I start working in Tableau, I need to make sure that I have Rserve running in my R environment. So I'll press Alt + Tab to move to R. I have a blank console. So I'll type Library and then in parentheses and double quotes, Rserve with a capital R and Enter, good. And then I'll run Rserve to start the process. That'll be Rserve followed by open and close parentheses, nothing in between. Enter and now, Rserve is running. So now, I can switch back to Tableau and make sure that I am connected to R. So I'll press Alt + Tab to…
