[Instructor] - Charts are terrific at summarizing data visually, but there will be times when you need to add a comment to a chart to explain something not communicated directly by the data. For example, you might have preliminary sales data for a year, and want to tell your colleagues that you plan to update the data behind the chart as soon as the final numbers are available. I will show you how to add a text box or annotation to your visualizations. My sample file is the add text workbook, and you can find it in the Chapter 11 folder of the exercise files collection. This workbook contains a visualization on total orders by state broken down into sub-categories by city, and there are totals for the years of 2015 and 2016. Let's say that the year 2016 isn't quite final, you can add an annotation to provide a note to that effect. To do that, right click a place on the chart where there is no data, and then from the shortcut menu that appears, point to annotate, and then click area…
