Adding a trend line to a chart

- [Instructor] Creating Tableau of visualizations lets you discover important information about your business. If you want to display specific information about how your performance has changed over time, you can create a line chart and then to see the overall trend, add a trend line to the chart. A trend line is a line that best fits your existing data, which you can then use to extrapolate future results based on past performance. I will demonstrate how to add a trend line and also averaging median lines to your workbook visualization. My sample file is the Trend Line workbook and you can find it in the chapter 11 folder of your Exercise Files collection. This visualization shows expenses for my hotels and it's broken down by month. So if you look at the horizontal axis you can see that we have December 2014 going all the way out to December 2016. And what I'd like to do is figure out if there is a line that gives me a good fit for that data that I can use to project future…
