Calculate the square or square root of a value

- [Narrator] Companies often manage data and materials that are arranged in the square. A tile company for example, might need to calculate how many one foot square units are needed to cover a floor that is 15 feet on each side. In this movie, I will show you how to find the square and square root of a number. My sample file is the square workbook, and you can find it in the chapter three folder of the Exercise Files collection. In this case, I'm looking at four different room types in a hotel, and you can see them listed here. Cambridge, Oxford, Piccadilly and Westminster. What I am currently showing, and the visualization is the side of the room, in other words, the length of one side of what I assume to be a square room. If I wanted to find the total square footage of this room, I would need to multiply any of these values, 17, 20, 23 and 25 by itself. I can do that in a calculated field, so I'll go to the Analysis menu, click Create Calculated Field, and I will rename this…
