Configuring the data input process
- [Instructor] When we input data into Tableau Prep, there are a number of options that we can take advantage of to manipulate the data before we start building a flow. To look at that, I'm going to connect to the data in the exercise file. This is going to be a CSV file called Jul 2016 week1 flights. And when we open up this file, Tableau Prep gives us some options. First of all, this is a CSV file so if Tableau hasn't correctly identified the separator, we can select it from the drop-down on the left-hand side. In this case, it's a CSV, it's a comma delimited file and Tableau's correctly identified it. This is really useful in case your data set doesn't conform to CSV standard. And we can see on the right-hand side all of the fields that Tableau's identified and created columns for each one. And we can go ahead and edit any of these if we want to. For example, Dest City, I'd rather say Destination City. So I can double-click, and I can rename it to Destination City. I can also go…
