Connect to data

- [Instructor] Now we can connect the data in Tableau in a couple of different ways. We could either click the connector data here, we could select it from the drop down menu here, or we can click on the icon. When we do that, we get this dialog box come up here. Tableau can connect to a file on your local machine such as Excel or CSV file. Or it can connect to a database held on a server somewhere. Tableau needs to be able to access the file. So it either needs to have access to the file on your file system, maybe in the shared drive, or on a remote server, Tableau needs to have access to that network as well. So for our example, we're gonna look at the Superstore sales data in your exercise folder. Now that's an Excel sheet, so we're gonna click on Excel. We then have the usual dialog box for our system. In this case, I'm recording on a Mac, so I've got the Mac dialog. It's good practice to keep all your data sources in the data source directory within the Tableau repository folder…
