Defining custom regions

- [Narrator] The map layouts Tableau provides give you everything you need to know about the standard organizational levels. Continents, countries, states, cities and so on. What it doesn't and really can't do, is define territories and regions that are specific to your business. In this movie I will show you how to define a custom regions on your map, and as a bonus, show you how to take category data that has geographical meaning and show Tableau how to interpret it as geographic data. My sample file is the custom regions workbook, and you can find it in the chapter 12 folder of the exercise files collection. This workbook has a single sheet, or I have a text table of expenditures by state. And what I'd like to do is to create a map that allows me to display circles of relatively large or a smaller size based on expenditures, and also to create a region, or a custom territory.
