Defining a set
- [Instructor] When you analyze the data source, you will often find that certain values go together even though they're not the same. For example, you might treat a set of states as a region, and it would make sense to define a set of those values. In this movie, I will show you how to define a set, which you can use to analyze a portion of your data. My sample file is the DefineSet workbook, and you can find it in the Chapter 7 folder of the exercise files collection. I have visualized this data as a text table, and let's say that I want to create a set based on related values. For instance, I might say that Boston, New York, and Philadelphia are all part of the same set. To add those groups to a set, I would first click Boston, and then hold down the Control key, and click New York, and then click Philadelphia. So those are all selected. Now I can right-click any data value, next to one of the selected headers. And from the bottom of the Shortcut menu that appears click Create Set.…
