Enhancing map analysis using distance measurement tools

- When you work with geographical data, you will often be interested in how closely certain phenomena, for example businesses or, perhaps, in this case, earthquakes are clustered. In this movie, I will show you how to select items within a map and, if you're zoomed in far enough and high enough detail, to see how large an area you're working with. My sample file is the Measurement Workbook, and you can find it in the Chapter 12 folder of your exercise files collection. I'm working with my collection of earthquake data and you can see here that there have been quite a few earthquakes of relatively small magnitude. I see a magnitude four or 2.7 in or around Oklahoma City and in Northern Oklahoma. What I would like to do is try to select these and then also see if there are any clusters within, say, about 20 miles.
