Filtering data

- [Instructor] When we import data into Tableau prep, prep sucks in all of the data. we have every single row in our data set. Now it's often the case that we don't actually need all of the data. So prep allows us to filter some of that data out. Now, there's a couple of ways we can do filtering. And both have the pros and cons. When we actually import the data in, we could apply filter during the input step. If we look at our example here where we've connected this superstore sales data set, and if I go to the input step we can see I've pulled in all the records and all the fields. There's an option over here above the orders to filter those values. So I could apply a calculation to remove some of the data at this point. However, when I do filtering I prefer to do it as part of the cleaning step. The reason for that is I find it easier to highlight that I've made that change, and if somebody else has come to use my flow after me, I think it's slightly easier for them to see as well…
