- [Narrator] After you've spent all that time gathering the data, visualizing it, and then building the dashboard, it'd be a real shame if somebody missed something really important. A way that we can prevent that is by using annotations. Annotations are really good to label something to highlight something interesting in that data. Now there are several different kinds of annotations. Some of them can be linked to an axis, and some of them can be linked to an individual mark in a view. Now this would ensure that the viewers see all the important details contained, either within the mark or the view. And annotations are particularly good for explanatory dashboards. For cases where we've already done the analysis, and we want to draw attention to a particular value. So on our dashboard here, I have my profit map, my weekly category, and my customer sales and profit. Now I've got some interesting customers here that maybe I want to highlight as part of a story.
