- [Instructor] Business data often documents a series of events, such as orders you place for supplies. If you want to identify which table row a particular order appears in or a particular record, you can use the index function to display that information. I'll show you how to create that calculation in this movie. My sample file is the Index Workbook. And you can find it in the Chapter07 folder of the Exercise Files collection. I have a very simple visualization. I just have my different Property Cities where my company has hotels. And let's say that for some reason, the data that I received did not have an index number. That is an index field for each of these values. That's bad practice from a database standpoint. And if you want to combine data, then you really should have that data. Now, in fact, I do. I have the PropertyID over here, where if I were to add that to the text area, then I would see the PropertyIDs. But let's say that the PropertyID field wasn't available, and I…
