Return the day, month, or year component of a date
- [Instructor] Most dates are recorded as a combination of year, month and day. In the US, we write dates in month, day, year order. For example August 2nd, 2017. When you analyze your data, it can be helpful to separate out the date's components so you can focus on units such as months. In this movie, I'll show you how to use calculations to return the day, month and year components of a date. My sample file is the day, month year workbook. And you can find it in the chapter four folder of your exercise files collection. At present, I just have a very simple table visualization. I have a number of client abbreviations. And my data contains information about when proposals are due for my hotel for conferences that they are thinking about hosting there. To display the dates of when the proposals are due, I can drag the proposal required demention to the data area. And when I let go, I see year of proposal required. And that's here. But if I want to see the month instead of the year…
