- [Lecturer] Everything that Tableau does behind the scenes, depending on whether it's using a green or a blue pill. Understanding how Tableau builds the visualization is an important concept to understand. If we drag a blue pill onto a row or column, we get a header. Let's look at an example of that. If we take Segment and drag it onto Rows, Tableau's produced a header for us, and it shows each of the three discreet values that's in that data. So, a segment has a customer, a corporate, and a home office. It's divided the day job into those three categories. If we add another discreet value onto the column shell, such as Category, we now get a second header. So, now we have a cross tab where we have the Category across the top for our columns, and now we have Segment on our rows. Now, if we add a continuous pill to our data, we can now see the value for each one of our categories and each one of our segments in our cross tab.
